Through a series of detailed portraits of people who have faced and conquered mental health struggles, accompanied by personal stories, this project aims to raise awareness, challenge stigma, create a dialogue around mental health recovery and inspire others.
Aged 17, Noah found himself trapped in a cycle of anxiety and self-doubt, struggling to navigate the overwhelming pressures of A levels, social expectations, and his own inner critic. Diagnosed with severe social anxiety, even the simplest interactions became insurmountable obstacles until he had become completely withdrawn and isolated. But through therapy, art, and the quiet strength of journaling, Noah slowly reclaimed his confidence. He set small, achievable challenges—ordering his own coffee, speaking up in class, joining a local music group. Each step felt monumental, but over time, he realised that courage wasn’t the absence of fear, but moving forward despite it. Today, he shares his journey openly, hoping his story will help others take that first step toward healing.
